LEWISTON – Viviane J. Berube, 78, a resident of Litchfield, died peacefully Saturday evening at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center with her family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston, April 9, 1929, the daughter of Wilfred and Yvonne (Nadeau) Huard. She attended Lewiston schools and was a 1949 graduate of St. Dominic’s High School in Lewiston.

She married Normand Berube on June 30, 1952, and then moved to Haverhill, Mass., in 1955, where they raised six children.

Viviane was a stay-at-home mother that also worked part time in the school cafeteria in Haverhill.

In 1987 she and her husband moved back to Maine where they built there retirement home on Purgatory Pond in Litchfield where they enjoyed their retirement with friends and family. Viviane also enjoyed gardening, as well as wildlife that would visit their backyard.

Survivors include her husband, Normand of Litchfield; five sons, Normand “Kip” Berube and his wife, Luanne, of Newton, Mass., John Berube of Epping, N.H., Richard Berube and his wife, Mary, of Kingston, N.H., Claude Berube of Raymond, N.H. and Guy Berube and his wife, Joan, of Haverhill, Mass.; one daughter, Suzanne Berube of Haverhill, Mass.; one sister, Julie Roderigue and her husband, Paul, of McKenney, Texas. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a brother, George Huard.
