LEWISTON – Robert R. Cote, 73, of Sabattus died on Nov. 5, at Central Maine Medical Center, with his loving family by his side.
He was born on Oct. 12, 1934, in Lewiston, the son of Etienne and Eva Cote. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War.
He went on to work for Heutz Oil for 35 years, retiring in July of this year. Among his many interests, he was an avid musician, playing the steel guitar for many country bands; most recently he was in the band Firewater Creek. He was Instrumentalist of the Year in 1979.
He also enjoyed watching sports, camping, boating, cookouts and spending time with his family. He was known for his excellent sense of humor and being a wonderful family man.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Emma Jean; daughters, Katherine Duesberg and her husband, Gary, and Kerri Craig; sons, Martin Lang and his wife, Cheryl, David Cote and his wife, Louise, Glen Henderson and his wife, Jackie, Bobby Cote, Shannon Cote and his fiancee, Marissa; many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren; and dogs, Brutus, Minnie and Muffin.
He was predeceased by a son, Patrick Cote.
