LEWISTON – Berangere (Betty) Potvin, 83, of Auburn, died Monday, Nov. 5, at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born in Auburn on Feb. 17, 1924, a daughter to the late Joseph and Blanche (Morin) Sirois. Betty married the love of her life, Ernest Potvin on Aug. 23, 1943, at Sacred Heart Church.

She worked for more than 30 years as a waitress in the Boston area and after she moved to Maine she worked at Laverdiere’s for 10 years as a front desk clerk, where she would greet and serve people with her smile and laughter.

She was known for being a very service-oriented person and always gave service with a smile. She loved to play music, especially piano and organ, she also enjoyed watching classic movies, playing cards, bingo and was a great cribbage player until the end. She will be missed for how much she loved her family.

She leaves two sons, Ronald Potvin of Auburn and Raymond Potvin of Boston; a daughter, Diane Zyck and her husband, Robert, of Georgia.; four grandchildren, Brian Potvin, Trena Jackson, Robert and Evan Zyck; two great-grandchildren, Acalia and Gevante Jackson; and a brother, William Burke of Auburn.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest in 2004; and two sons, Roger and Maurice.

She wanted to thank all of her extended family at Clover Manor, where she has resided the last three years, and also a special thank you to her roommate Normande.
