The town will pay $778,538 as its share of a larger gymnasium than the state would fund.

In addition, by a vote of 640-416, residents approved spending $628,290 for a pitched-roof system that the state would not fund; also, $739,868 in local tax dollars will be spent on a $1,015,893 state-of-the-art geothermal heating system.

The state will contribute $246,025 toward the system’s cost. The state is also expected to require the town to use a Maine high-performance schools grant of up to $120,000 toward the cost of the project.

A total of 1,038 out of 3,352 eligible voters turned out for the election, Town Clerk Shannon Plourde said.
