FARMINGTON – Raymond “Charlie” Given, 72, of Chesterville, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 7, 1935, in Berlin, N.H., the son of Hubert and Delma (King) Given. He was educated in the schools of Jay. He married Irene Cushman in Farmington in 1954.

After serving his country in the Air Force, he went to work for K&H Foster as a carpenter and truck driver, then as an industrial mechanic for Pratt Inc. in Farmington. He then worked at R.S. Osgood & Sons until retiring in 1977 due to ill health. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias. He loved fishing, hunting, cooking, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and the company of his beagle Charlie.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Irene; his son, Barry Given and his wife, Lindy, of Farmington; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew and Kasey Given, Denifer Linnel, Charles Q. Given, Kristin Trask and Julie Hiltz; five great-grandchildren; his twin brother, Bert Given and his wife, Joyce, of Jay; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by two sons, Randall and Bernard Given; his parents; three sisters, Louise, Betty and Marie; and his brother, John.
