PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) – A special ed teacher in Seabrook has pleaded guilty to being drunk and dropping her child while boarding a boat in Portsmouth last summer. Her jail sentence has been delayed so she can keep her job.

Holly Spreen, 34, of Newmarket pleaded guilty this week to reckless conduct and to simple assault from an unrelated domestic dispute. She was sentenced to two years in jail, with all but 30 days suspended. She won’t have to go to jail until July.

Spreen was arrested last July when she dropped and dragged her child aboard a Portsmouth harbor cruise ship. In exchange for the guilty pleas, a child endangerment charge was dropped.

Spreen completed alcohol treatment since her arrest and has lost custody of her son.
