Seniors meal
GREENWOOD – Bethel Senior Citizens Club will gather at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Locke Mills American Legion Hall for a meeting and dinner. Cost is $7.50. Speaker will be Jim Miclon.
Worship leader
PARIS – Marilyn Hammond will be the worship leader at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., Paris, Sunday, Nov. 11. Her sermon topic at the 10 a.m. service will be “Thoughts on Veterans Day.”
The music will be under the direction of Forest Perkins, church organist. Renee Wales will lead the Sunday school. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. All are welcome.
Christmas lights
GREENWOOD – The Jackson-Silver American Legion Auxiliary is taking orders for Christmas bulbs for the three trees on the grounds of the Legion Hall on Gore Road.
Anyone may purchase a bulb for $2 each in memory of, or in honor of, a veteran or a member of a veteran’s family. Those wishing may place an order with an active member until the tree lighting on Thursday, Dec. 6, after the post and unit 6 p.m. supper when the names of those for whom the bulbs were purchased have been read.
Society meeting
WEST PARIS – The West Paris Historical Society will hold its last meeting for 2007 on Monday, Nov. 19, at the historical hall. A potluck supper will be held at 6 p.m. followed at 7 by the speakers, Jim Clanin, Jody and Lajos Matolcsy, owners of Western Maine Mineral Adventures, located just before the Mollyockett Motel on Route 26.
They will provide the history of their business and how it works as well as a little bit about themselves.
Everyone is welcome. Those who wish to attend the supper should prepare a favorite casserole and attend. For more information, call Ted or Betty Jones at 674-2507.
The annual hunter and family breakfast was held Oct. 27 and was termed a success.
