FREEPORT – Frances Arlene Martin, 79, of Brunswick, died Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Hawthorne House.
She was born in Brunswick on March 8, 1928, the daughter of the late William J. and Dora Buker Labbe. She was educated in the Brunswick school system.
On April 17, 1950, she married William Martin. She spent a large part of her life as a Navy wife in Norfolk, where she enjoyed being a homemaker and raising their daughter. They later moved to Sanford, Fla., where they spent their retirement years.

She reaped much joy and satisfaction from this volunteer work. She returned to Brunswick in 1999 to be close to family and to the place where she could enjoy the ocean, lighthouses and everything about the coast of Maine.
She is survived by a daughter, Doreen Fay Mann and her husband, Gregory Mann, of Lisbon; a sister, Susan Labbe Daley and her husband, Jack, of Gorham; two brothers, William P. Labbe Sr. and his wife, Pamalee, of Harpswell and David Labbe and his wife, Teri, of Brunswick; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Martin June 30, 1987; and two sisters, Marilyn Labbe and Mary Labbe.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt word of thanks to the staff of the Hawthorne House in Freeport for all they did. Their care and kindness made her last few months as comfortable as possible. Also a special thank-you to the staff of Beacon Hospice for their kindness and generous support.
