LEWISTON – Richard P. Verreault, 72, of 391 Randall Road, Lewiston, died Friday, Nov. 9, at Central Maine Medical Center after a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston April 2, 1935, the son of Joseph and Yvonne Lessard Verreault. Educated in local and Jackman schools, he was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1954.

On May 21, 1955, he married the former Cecile G. Lapointe. He served in the U.S. Navy, and after his honorable discharge in 1957, he was involved in the family businesses of Lewiston Machine and Diamond Machine companies. He was also co-owner of Alpha Sales and Tool-Aid, and most recently he was involved with his son David and daughter Cathy with Richard P. Verreault Sales.

A member of Holy Family Parish, he enjoyed time spent with his family, especially at “Verreault’s Hideaway,” the family camp in Holeb, where all were taught that “what goes on in Holeb, stays in Holeb.” Dick and his wife Cecile loved to travel with their family and friends, but were greatly limited in the last few years of his life. He was a loving and caring husband, father, “Pepere” and “Grampy,” and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially Miss Kitty.

Besides his wife of Lewiston, he is survived by two sons, Richard and wife, Mary, of Fremont, N.H., and David and wife, Colleen, of Poland; two daughters, Suzan and husband, Richard Fournier of Poland and Cathy and husband, Michael Moody, of Auburn; five brothers, Robert and wife, Cecile, of Lewiston, Norman and wife, Corrine, of Lewiston, Eugene of Mariposa, Calif., Roger and wife, Sylvia, of Turner and Paul and wife, Claire, of Old Orchard Beach; two sisters, Lucille Ledoux of Biddeford and Theresa and husband, Rene Lagace, of Lisbon; eight grandchildren, Nicole Bauer, Joseph Fournier, Riana and Joshua Moody, and Robert, Lauren, Adam, and Emily Verreault; and four great-grandchildren, Hanna, Keegan, Attean and William.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Marcel, Reginald and Rene; and a sister, Gertrude Heidelman.

The family would like to thank Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, CMMC Emergency, ICU, and M1 staff, and an extra special thanks to Dr. Neil Duval and his special staff.
