Successful Maine playwright and Tony Award-nominated actor John Cariani, flew in from Los Angeles to attend the final weekend performances of his play “Almost, Maine” at The Public Theatre in Lewiston.

“John was very pleased with our production of his play,” said Artistic Director Christopher Schario. “It was a real treat for the cast and everyone involved with “Almost, Maine” to hear his heartfelt praise of the performance and to be told how satisfied he was that we honored the play as it was intended to be seen”.

“Almost, Maine” joins the top five highest grossing shows in the history of The Public Theatre, bringing more than 2,600 people to Lewiston to see the play during its two-week run.

Originally from Presque Isle and currently living in Los Angeles pursuing film and television work, Cariani expressed the hope to “get up north to see The Public Theatre’s adaptation of “A Christmas Carol.”
