SKOWHEGAN – Due to a grant from the Maine Community Foundation’s Western Mountains Fund, 15 nonprofit organizations in Franklin, Somerset and Piscataquis counties are eligible to receive scholarships to attend a fundraising workshop, offered by the Maine Association of Nonprofits.
The workshop will be held at the Margaret Chase Smith Library from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9. The day-long fundraising training will include a morning and afternoon session, focusing on different aspects of raising money.
The morning session, “Case Statements 202: Bottling the Passion,” will help participants develop their organization’s fundraising case. The afternoon session, “The Monster Under the Bed,” will focus on how to ask for money.
The back-to-back workshop is a partnership between the state association and the Western Mountains Alliance’s Lead Western Maine program.
Franklin, Somerset and Piscataquis organizations that are association members or are enrolled in Lead Western Maine’s winter semester will be able to attend the day-long session free. Organizations that are not MANP members may register for the discounted rate of $25 a session. To apply, call Tricia Cook at Western Mountains Alliance, 778-3885.
