EL PASO, Texas – Marion G. McCarthy, 92, was born in Caribou, on Dec. 27, 1914, the daughter of Lillian E. Caulkins and Arthur L. Carter.
She left this life on Nov. 10, and went to join our Lord. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She touched the hearts of many with her warm and beautiful spirit and will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
She was educated in Caribou local schools and graduated from Caribou High School in 1933. She married Harry G. McCarthy in 1936, and was employed as both a clerk and manager of Goodwill stores in Lewiston and Bath from 1965 to 1976. She managed the BD Store in the Lewiston Mall from 1977 until her retirement in 1991.
She lived in Caribou, Bangor, and Bath and settled in Lewiston from 1953 to 1999. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church. She had been a resident of El Paso, Texas, from 1999 until the present.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Schlenker and husband, Clarence, of El Paso, Texas; her son, Terry McCarthy and wife, Denise, of Lewiston; a daughter-in-law, Veronica Sawyer and husband, Thomas, of Farmington; three sisters-in-law, Eunice Carter of Vasselboro, Beatrice McCarthy of Old Town and Doreen McCarthy of Caribou; she is loved and cherished by seven grandchildren, Bonnie, Lauri, Tammy, Christopher, Kathy, Amy and Jenner; she leaves 10 great-grandchildren, Shayne, Lynsey, Kali, Brady, Courtney, Caitlyn, Elle, Rowen, Izabel and Izac; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Lillian and Arthur; her husband, Harry McCarthy in 1965; her son, Gordon McCarthy in 1979; and her brother, Hubert Carter this year.
