LEWISTON – Emilienne “Emily” (Giguere) Auger, 87, of Schooner Estates, formerly of 32 Orange St., Lewiston, died Friday, Nov. 16.
She was born March 19, 1920, in Black Lake, Canada. She was the daughter of Henri Giguere and Blanche Perreault (Giguere) Drouin and stepdaughter of Jean Thomas Drouin.
She was educated in local schools.
On July 1, 1939, she married Lucien N. Auger at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston. He died in 1976 after 37 years of marriage.
In 1957, along with their son, Jim, they moved to Wallingford, Conn. While in Connecticut, she worked at Cuno Inc. as a quality control inspector. After her husband’s retirement in 1973, they returned to Lewiston. She then worked for the Ramada Inn for 20 years.
She was a member of LaSurviance Francois, Lady of St. Peter and Paul’s solidarity, and Holy Cross seniors. She took many trips with the senior citizens along with her sister, Jeanne, and many other trips with her son, Jim, and his wife, Mary.
Emily enjoyed the beauty of life and took pleasure working in her photo albums and making VCR tapes of old family photos. She most enjoyed working in her genealogy book of the Perreault, Auger and Giguere families. She made many copies of these books to distribute to members of the family. Her books were always completely up to date.
She is survived by her son, James L. Auger and his wife, Mary, of South Portland; two sisters, Jeanne D’Arc Drouin of Lewiston, who lived with her, and Fernande Drouin of Manchester, N.H.; four sisters-in-law, Blanche Wright, Irene Boisvert and her husband, Maurice, all of Lewiston, Simone O’Brien of Augusta, and Anita Marshall and her husband, Robert, of Utica, N.Y.; an uncle, Dominique and his wife, Rhea Perreault, of Seabrook, N.H.; many nephews and nieces; and many cousins still living in Canada.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lucien N. Auger; her parents, Henri Giguere and Blanche Perreault Giguere; and a stepfather, Jean T. Drouin.
