BOURNE, Mass. (AP) – An Air Force review has concluded that a proposed Cape Cod wind farm would have no impact on the nearby PAVE PAWS radar station in Bourne.

PAVE PAWS is one of two radar facilities in the continental U.S. responsible for missile warning and space surveillance.

U.S. Rep. William Delahunt asked for a review of how the 130 turbines proposed by Cape Wind Associates for Nantucket Sound would affect the radar. He said it could impact national security.

The Air Force study found the wind farm would not affect PAVE PAWS after looking at the latitude and longitude of the turbines.

It also looked at their height above sea level and the windmill construction material.

A Cape Wind spokesman said the company was pleased the Air Force had conclusively settled the question.
