ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) – The defending Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks acquired center Brian Sutherby from the Washington Capitals on Monday for a second-round draft pick in the 2009 NHL entry draft.

The 25-year-old Sutherby has one goal in five games for the Capitals this season. He recorded 26 goals and 35 assists in 259 NHL games over six seasons with Washington. He established career bests in the 2005-06 season with 14 goals and 16 assists in 76 games.

The Capitals made Sutherby the 26th overall pick in the 2000 entry draft.
