LEWISTON – Marie R. Filteau Beaudoin, 94, formerly of Sabattus Street and South Avenue, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 18, at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion.

She was born in Lewiston, April 24, 1913, one of 11 children born to Olivier and Lena Bonneau Poirier. She was educated in Lewiston schools and was married to Ralph Filteau on Nov. 10, 1934. He died July 27, 1975. She then married Hector E. Beaudoin Sept. 5, 1986, and he died Dec. 10, 1995.

She and her husband, Ralph, owned and operated Marie’s Lobster Bar on Sabattus Street in the late 1940s and 1950s. She was also employed at the Fantastic Fair and retired from King’s Department Store in 1975.

She was a communicant of Holy Cross Church and a member of the Holy Cross Seniors, Lewiston Seniors and A/C/A. She enjoyed playing cards, beano and shopping. She also enjoyed bowling and in the 1970s won many bowling trophies. She loved to be around people and had a large group of friends. She and her husband, Ralph did much traveling and camping in many states, including trips to Arizona.

She is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Violette of Old Orchard Beach and Doris Bussiere and husband, Raymond, of Lewiston and Myrtle Beach, S.C.; five grandchildren, Gregory Violette and wife, Michelle, of Limerick, Thomas Violette and wife, Janice, of Limerick, Kathy Butterfield and husband, Gregory, of Old Orchard Beach, Brigite Babine and husband, John Sr., of Lewiston and Celine Lagasse of Lewiston; 13 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Cecile Rodrigue and Catherine Bergeron of Lewiston and Lena Lapointe and husband, Armand, of Old Orchard Beach and Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her two husbands; a baby sister, Theresa; two other sisters, Diana Begin and Anita Houle; four brothers, Ernest “Pop,” Adelard “Joseph,” Lionel and George Poirier; a grandson, Raymond Bussiere Jr., a son-in-law, Robert Violette, and a grandson-in-law, Robert Lagasse.
