LIVERMORE FALLS – A mechanical failure led the rear wheels of a pickup truck to fall off sending the vehicle out of control on Moosehill Road Monday, police said. One teenager was hurt.
The driver, Charles Metzger, 17, of Livermore Falls, lost control of the truck and it went off the road into a ditch before flipping onto its roof, police Officer Ken Bryant said. Metzger and his passenger, James Richard, had to climb through a window to evacuate the truck because the doors were wedged shut, he said.
Richard had a piece of glass get stuck in his hand, Bryant said, and planned to go to a doctor to have it removed. Metzger had just bought the 1989 Ford F150, Bryant said.
