A Dog Called Kitty starts off about the main character, Ricky, who is scared of dogs because he got attacked by a dog when he was young. Then Ricky had to go to the hospital for stitches and had to get a rabies shot because the dog had rabies. Ricky lives in Missouri with his mom, dad and his brother. One day Ricky’s dad bought a farm in Chickasaw, Oklahoma and started to pack up.

A few days go by and Ricky’s dad bought some cats to scare the rats out of the barn. When Ricky had to organize the hay bales he heard whimpering; it was a brown puppy. He got scared and climbed up the hay bales. Ricky doesn’t like dogs, but doesn’t likes to see animals starve to death. So he went inside and got some meat scraps and a bowl of milk and gave it to the pup. However, the pup was so weak he couldn’t lift up its head, so Ricky slowly put his hand to its mouth and the pup ate the food and licked Ricky’s hand. Ricky told the pup that once the pup was all fed and could walk again he would scare it off . After a few days, Ricky kept on feeding the pet and kept on telling himself that he would scare it, but the next day he fed by hand again and again. Then the pup could walk again. So when school started for Ricky the pup waited for him by the well and the pup always waited for Ricky at the well. Then his father and mother found out and they were proud of that Ricky had gotten over his fear of dogs and told him he could keep the pup. Ricky named the pup, Kitty and they became good friends.

It was winter now and Ricky’s father went to Missouri to see his sister. Ricky, his mother and his brother had to feed the cows but when they were going to feed the cows the truck got stuck in gooey mud and found out that the mother cow was gone so they went to find the mother cow. When they got there they found out that the mother had its calf and Kitty scared the mother and it started to chase Kitty and Ricky and when the cow stopped Ricky yell at Kitty. They finally they got the calf and the mother cow home. Then the next day they went to feed the cows and got the truck stuck again so the mother told Ricky to throw the hay and that the cows can just find it then Ricky found out that the other mother cow was gone so they went to go get it and that when it went from good to worse. When they got there there were wild dogs who want the calf and the mother cow so Kitty came in and started to attack the wild dogs. At the end the dogs ran away because Ricky had a huge stick and whacked them really hard. Kitty had half a ear and his stomach was cut open. His mother came and brought them home and then she called the vet and a doctor. Their wounds healed fast during the next weeks. They met another and that’s when it goes from worse to horrible. The dump truck didn’t see Kitty. Well, I can’t tell you what happened, but I can tell you this , pick up the book and read this wonderful, happy and sad book. Your head will not want to stop reading this book because it is so good! So read A Dog Called Kitty.
