NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Nov. 16 in the Fare Share Common when a Howell movement was played.
Finishing first in Flight A with a 72.92 percent game were Pete Cummings and Dick Allen; second, Eilene Potvin and Della Starbird; third, Nancy Farmer and Marta Clements.
Finishing first in Flight B were Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird with Cindy and Bob Kirchherr second.
There will be no game on Friday, Nov. 23. The next game will be Nov. 30, same place and time. All bridge players are invited. Beginning the first Friday of January the club will meet at 9:30 a.m. For information, call Les Buzzell at 754-9153 or 783-4153 e-mail [email protected].
Fair, tea
BETHEL – A Christmas fair and tea will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the West Parish Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, Church Street.
The event will include traditional Christmas tea, a cookie walk, handcrafted items and decorations, wreaths, homebaked goods, plus fair traded items, including coffee and chocolate.
Dinner, dance
PARIS – A benefit dinner and dance for Elise Thurlow will be held Saturday, Nov. 24, at the South Paris Legion Hall. Proceeds will help with relocating and reopening the Colonial Coffee Shoppe.
Dinner will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. and the dance will follow from 6 to 10 p.m. There will be live music provided by local musicians, raffles, door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Cost is $8 a person or $15 a couple. For more information contact Lisa Martin at 739-2393.
Toy auction
OXFORD – The Resistance Ministries, a nonprofit youth ministry, will have its second annual “Toys Galore” Chinese Auction fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 1, featuring hundreds of new toys, electronics, clothing and other items at the Hosanna Church Building.
Doors will open for ticket sales at 1:30 p.m. and tickets will start to be drawn at 3. There will be grab bags, a 50/50 raffle and a dollar table with more than $1,000 in items. Food will be available for purchase. For more information, call the ministry office at 743-6982.
Society program
WOODSTOCK – The Woodstock Historical Society took a trip on Boston’s Freedom Trail with treasurer Paul Billings as guide at a recent meeting.
The Ford family also attended the meeting and shared photos. President Elaine Roberts appointed the following committees: finance, Annella Burnham, Olive Risko and Roberts; building, Paul Billings, Roberts and Ron Hoyt; research, Olive Risko, Roberts and Addie MacNeil; program, Paul Billings; food, Mary and Vicki Billings.
Olive Risko gave a research report on barn dancing and she also won the mystery package. The December meeting will be a potluck supper and Christmas party beginning at 6 p.m.
