Financial aid

JAY – A financial aid information presentation for the parents of Jay High School juniors and seniors will be given at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, in the school library.

A representative from Central Maine Community College Financial Aid Department will present the program this year. The presentation will define financial aid, explain how to apply and describe the types of financial aid.

The senior class will hold a bake sale prior to the meeting from 5:15 to 6 p.m.

Santa to visit

RANGELEY – Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves will visit the children during Breakfast with Santa from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Wilhelm Reich Museum Conference Center, Dodge Pond Road. Santa’s helpers will prepare a breakfast of chocolate chip, blueberry or plain pancakes served with syrup, sausages and a beverage. Admission is $5 a person. Proceeds will benefit the Wilhelm Reich Museum. For more information, call 864-3443.

Emblem fair

FARMINGTON – Farmington Emblem Club 460 will sponsor a holiday craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Farmington Elks Lodge. The club will have a bake and craft sale along with other crafters who will sell their wares.

Raffle tickets will be sold on a quilt and afghan with racks, and the winning ticket to be drawn at the club’s meeting and Christmas party on Thursday, Dec. 6. Tables are available. For more information, call Jean at 645-2695 or Sharon at 645-4314.

Open house

FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Children’s Task Force and the United Way will host an open house from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Santa will be at the United Way on Main Street along with Luce Studios to have pictures taken with the children.

Then families are invited to follow the reindeer path to get some warm hats and mittens for a free sleigh ride around town. The task force staff and board will have hot cocoa, cookies and activities, sponsored by the Farmington Business and Professional Association.

SAD 52 classes

TURNER – SAD 52 has announced the following classes, sponsored by River Valley Adult Community Education:

A one-night class on tree ornaments will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 28. Participants will make several ornaments. The class will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Adult Learning Center in Turner Center.

There will be a snowmobile safety class from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Adult Learning Center.

Auxiliary fair

FARMINGTON – American Legion Auxiliary Unit 28 will sponsor a holiday craft fair and luncheon from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the American Legion hall. There will be two floors of crafts and a large luncheon menu.

Monday meeting

FARMINGTON – The Monday Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at the Pierce House. Members will celebrate Christmas with a Yankee Gift Swap and are asked to take a suitable gift.

Silent auction

TURNER – The Turner Public Library is holding a silent auction of handcrafted items through Saturday, Dec. 8.

They are on display for bidding at 98 Matthews Way every Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 7 p.m. and every Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to noon. For more information, call Joan Pedersen at 225-3501.

Spaghetti supper

JAY – There will be a spaghetti supper to benefit Bruce Goding, who is fighting cancer, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Jay High School cafeteria.
