AUBURN – Jean Marie (Fitzherbert) Haney died Tuesday, Nov. 20, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was under the extraordinary care of The Hospice House in Auburn, with her family by her side.

She was born in Fort Fairfield, June 25, 1934, the daughter of Alemedia and Murry Fitzherbert. She was educated in Mechanic Falls schools and was a member of The American Legion Post 153 in New Auburn.

She enjoyed playing her guitar, singing, dancing and playing cards. She also loved to cook and bake for family and friends.

Survivors include two children, a son, Rick Hill of Georgia; a daughter, Kathy Leonard of Auburn; a sister, Ellie Morin of Auburn; two brothers, Royce Fitzherbert of Massachusetts, and Eddie Fitzherbert of Windham; five grandchildren, Casey Hill, Justin and Tamara Highley, Shawn and Samantha Leonard; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Alexis Highley; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Vanderburg; and a dear nephew, Elwin Fitzherbert.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She’ll always be remembered for her independent, spunky, fun-loving nature.
