Rumford – Jeannette D. Brown, 83, of Sanders Street in Mexico, died Sunday, Nov. 25, at Rumford Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born in Mexico on Aug. 17, 1924, a daughter of Albert and Marie L. (Cote) Desjardins. She was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School, class of 1942. She was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. She was a member of Daughters of Isabella, St. Theresa’s Guild, Ladies of St. Anne and a former member of St. Theresa’s Parish Council.

She was a ballot clerk for the Town of Mexico for many years and was employed in the Rations Office during World War II. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved playing beano and cribbage and spending time with her many friends.

She is survived by a son, Lee J. Brown and wife, Patty, of East Andover; a daughter, Nancy A. Thibodeau and husband, Jerrold, of Rumford; five grandchildren, Jennifer Thibodeau-Clement and husband, Robin, of Industry, Jill Chang of Rumford, Casey Brown of Portland, Lynsey Brown of Portland and Michael Brown of East Andover; a great-grandson, Jacob Chang; and a special friend, Ken.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 41 years, Kenneth C. Brown; a sister, Blanche McKellick; three brothers, Leo Desjardins, Lucien Desjardins and Armand Desjardins; and a lifelong friend, Mary Gallant.
