CARROLLTON, Ky. – Robert M. “Doc” Taylor, 67, of Dixfield, died unexpectedly, Saturday, Nov. 24, at the Audubon Heart Hospital in Carrollton, Ky.
He was born on June 8, 1940,, in Rumford, a son of Harry and Eva (Sassi) Taylor. He attended Rumford schools, graduating from Stephens High School with the class of 1958.
In 1960 he married Donna Chase of Dixfield, where they made their home and raised five children.
Doc retired from the U.S military after 23 years of service. During his tenure he served in the U.S. Navy, Navy Reserves, Marine Corp. Reserves and Army National Guard, mainly as a medic. He was most recently called to his last active duty during Desert Storm where he served at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital in New Hampshire.
He was employed for several years as a safety engineer for nuclear power plants, which took him across the country. He was currently working with Siemens out of Florida. He was also a member and past master of the King Hiram Masonic Lodge 57, in Dixfield.
He was a loving husband and father. He will always be remembered for his willingness to put others’ needs before his own. He was a tremendously hard worker, talented chef and truly a “Jack of all trades,” who could be counted on to help with others’ projects. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna of Dixfield; mother, Eva Taylor of Dixfield; three sons, Christopher Taylor of Dixfield, Scott Taylor of Dixfield and Corey Taylor of Peru; two daughters, Darlene Whitaker of Rumford and Laurie Taylor of Dixfield; a brother, Francis Taylor and his wife, Gerri, of Brunswick; grandchildren, Lauren Whitaker, Chelsea Austin, Ashton McLaughlin, Coty McLaughlin, Franklyn MacDonald, Nicholas Taylor, Shelby Taylor and Lucas Nadeau; a great-granddaughter, Rylee Taylor; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Harry Taylor.
