BRUNSWICK – The First Baptist Church will present national award-winning singer and songwriter Diane Muise of Auburn Sunday, Dec. 2, as a kick-off to the Christmas season. A professional singer for many years, Muise has toured extensively across the United States and Canada.

Her concerts feature different types of gospel music interspersed with humor, caring, and a sharing of real-life experiences. Besides having a powerful voice, she is a gifted storyteller.

Muise began singing in 1970, after auditioning for a gospel trio called the Majestic Singers. She traveled with that group for four years, sharing the stage with many well-known gospel groups like the Gaithers, the Speers, the Blackwoods, the Oak Ridge Boys and the Kingsmen.

Muise began her solo ministry in 1985. Her busiest year included 225 concerts. She presently performs about 150 times a year. She is well-known in Florida, Indiana, North and South Carolia, Georgia, New York and Pennsylvania. She does two major tours a year: a 12-week tour in the Midwest in the fall and a 12-week tour in the South in the winter. She performs almost exclusively in New England during the spring and summer months.

Muise has won numerous awards over the years for both her singing and her songwriting and has performed on both national and Canadian national television. She has recorded numerous times in Nashville and has authored a book titled “God Takes the Broken Pieces of Our Lives and Makes a Stained Glass Window.”

Originally from Georgia, she has made Maine her home since marrying Maine native Leo Muise in 1975. He acts as her booking agent, business manager, sound technician and bus driver. Together, they travel about 30,000 miles a year.

The concert will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the church on 284 Church Road. There is no admission charge; however, there will be an offering for the Muise Music Ministries.
