BATH – Celtic harpist Áine Minogue will play harp and sing with cello virtuoso Eugene Friesen and DruidStone Saturday, Dec. 8, as they celebrate the symbolism of the winter solstice as found in Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Galatia and Brittany.

They will present “To Warm A Winter’s Night,” an evening of Celtic music, storytelling and tradition suitable for all ages, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Chocolate Church Arts Center.

An expert on holiday/Celtic traditions, Minogue takes listeners on a journey into the heart of the more contemplative side of the season.

Minogue’s voice reflects the lyricism and richness found in Irish music, mythology and poetry with a voice undeniably her own – and a diverse group of instruments that adds to the traditional flavor of her work.

Born in Borrisokane, County Tipperary, her large musical family encouraged her to play different instruments during her youth, explaining her skills at arranging. They played together as a family and attended fleadhs, traditional music festivals. But it was at age 12 while at boarding school in County Galway that Minogue discovered her true love – the harp.

Concert tickets are $18-$22. For tickets, call the box office at 442-8455, or log on to www.chocolatechurcharts.org.
