AUBURN – Jules Rodrigue, 80, of 118 Broad St., Auburn, died Monday, Nov. 26.
He was born in St. Benoit, Canada, June 10, 1927, the son of Mathias and Anna (Vachon) Rodrigue.
He attended school in Canada and served with the Canadian Army as a master sergeant and was also a paratrooper.
He married Marielle Fortin on July 3, 1954. Moving to this area in 1955, he was a house painter, and for many years, owned and operated the firm of Jules the Painter.
A member of the Auburn Catholic community, he became a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus in 1947, and was a fourth degree member of the Msgr. T.H. Wallace Council of Lewiston.
He was an avid storyteller, who entertained family and friends. He loved spending time with people, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking and collecting antique clocks, and was an antique car enthusiast. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marielle; two sons, Charles and his wife, Pauline, of Farmington and Daniel and his wife, Susan, of Auburn; two daughters, Ann Barriault and her husband, Ray, of Skowhegan and Lisa Dubois and her husband, Nelson, of Auburn; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, Eric Barriault and his wife, Kelly, of Chesapeake, Va., Crystal Hayes and her husband, Nathan, and their son, Glen, of Searsport, Melissa Lindsey and her husband, Anthony, of Columbus, Ohio, Matthew Rodrigue and his wife, Carissa, of Boston, Mass., Laurie Rodrigue of Fairfield, Amanda and Ashley Dubois and Mackenzie and Ethan Rodrigue, all of Auburn; his brothers, Viateur and his wife, Annette, of Montreal, Denis and his wife, Lise, of St. Benoit, and Jacques of Montreal; his sisters, Denise Proulx and her husband, Marco and Mariette Rodrigue of Quebec City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Benoit, Marie-Louis and Jean Paul; and five sisters, Majella, Laurette, Marie Stella, Giselle and Madelaine.
