AUBURN – A natural gas company’s effort to get ahead of home-heating demand will mean road closures along Court Street tonight.
Northern Utilities crews will close Court Street between Spring and Turner streets overnight, beginning at 7 p.m. today through 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Traffic will be detoured around the work, up Turner Street to Hampshire Street and on to Pleasant Street.
Eric Labelle, Auburn community services director, said Northern Utilities is installing a connection to a high-pressure natural gas supply line.
“The idea is to make sure they have high-pressure ready to go, in preparation for a cold snap,” Labelle said. “There’s been more demand and they want to make sure they have the supply and the high-pressure ready to go.”
