AUBURN – Brenda Davis, executive director of Cross Roads Ministries and Food Pantry, an organization providing assistance to people in eastern and central Maine, is walking to build awareness about the problem of hunger in Maine and to raise money to help those suffering from it.

Maine credit unions have once again partnered with Davis in a statewide effort to end hunger in Maine. Credit unions across the state are participating by collecting canned goods for food pantries, selling a limited edition holiday CD to raise money for the Campaign for Ending Hunger and supporting fundraising activities.

Davis visited Maine Family Federal Credit Union’s Auburn branch on Nov. 14 as her tour continued through the Lewiston/Auburn area. Maine Family Marketing Director Karen Caouette presented Davis with a donation from the Maine Credit Union League that will help support the Cross Roads Ministries. The Maine Credit Union’s Campaign for Ending Hunger is also contributing $100 to a food pantry in each community Davis visits.

The sixth annual Maine Credit Union’ Ending Hunger Walking Tour began on Oct. 30 at the Maine State Credit Union in Augusta and will end Wednesday, Nov., 28, in Bangor. Davis will have visited 68 credit unions in 52 communities. She is expected to cover more than 1,600 miles, approximately 600 of which will be on foot.
