PARIS – The Paris Elementary School will be officially dedicated on Dec. 9 with a ceremony starting at 1 p.m.

“We want everyone to come,” Principal Jane Fahey said.

Although details of the dedication are being worked out, Fahey said she expects each grade level will be participating in the ceremony. One grade level may be reciting the pledge of allegiance while another may sing the school song.

“We’re keeping it simple,” she said.

Fahey said there will be ample time for participants to tour the school after the ceremony and she is encouraging the community to have a strong turnout. “If they haven’t had a chance to see this place, it’s a great place to walk through,” she noted.

Students from the former Fox Elementary and Madison Avenue schools attended their first day of classes at the then newly-constructed Paris Elementary School on High Street last February.

That marked the first time all kindergarten through sixth-grade students from Paris were educated together under the same roof since SAD 17 was formed about 40 years ago.

Because of busy schedules, plans for a dedication were delayed until this school year although an open house was held early on.
