WOODSTOCK – A Turner driver was stopped by a state Fire Marshal’s Office investigator on Sunday and later arrested on a charge of drunken driving.

Aaron Jesse Ryder, 28, was stopped by Chris Stanford after Stanford saw Ryder driving erratically on South Main Street, according to an Oxford County Sheriff’s Department log. Stanford kept Ryder at the scene until Deputy George Cayer of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office arrived and arrested him.

Sheriff Wayne Gallant said a fire marshal’s vehicle is considered a police vehicle under Maine motor vehicle statutes. Stanford’s car was equipped with a blue light.

Ryder was taken to the Oxford County Jail and charged with operating under the influence. He was released on $500 unsecured bail.
