PARIS – The doors of Paris Hill will be open this weekend as a local organization holds a holiday house tour.

The Paris Hill Community Club is holding the tours Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost of the tour is $20, which includes lunch.

“We’ve never turned anyone away,” said Mary-Alice Bancroft, co-chairwoman of the event. “They don’t have to buy in advance.”

Proceeds from the event go toward restoration of the Paris Hill Academy building, which is where tickets may be purchased and where lunch will be served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bancroft says the tour is the 10th the organization has held since the 1970s. She said the event does not take place annually because the organization aims to offer different homes at each tour.

The tour will feature eight private homes. The First Baptist Church and Hamlin Memorial Library will also be open, with a quilt show taking place at the church. The ticket for the event is a booklet that gives information on buildings on to tour.

“It’s a big volunteer effort,” Bancroft said. “No question it’s a lot of work, to get everything prepared for this tour, but it’s well worth it.”
