LEWISTON – William A. O’Connell, 66, of 74 Lake Auburn Ave., Auburn, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 25, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Syracuse, N.Y., May 3, 1941, the son of Robert J. O’Connell and Helen I. Atherton. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was married to Doris Butler.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a nurse at Freeport Nursing Home. He was actively involved as a Boy Scout troop leader and was district advancement chairman for the Pine Tree Council.

He is survived by his wife, Doris of Auburn; a daughter, Jeanne Posnick of Auburn; two sons, Patrick O’Connell and wife, Tracey Grant, of Augusta and Timothy O’Connell of Minnesota; and a brother, Robert O’Connell and wife, Marg, of Massachusetts.
