Kids’ party
DIXFIELD – The Dixfield American Legion will hold its annual children’s Christmas party from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2. Area children from fifth grade down are invited to visit Santa’s Elf and Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus as they hand out gifts.
Trail Blazers
MEXICO – Mexico Trail Blazers will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, downstairs at the Mexico Town Hall. Members will draw the winning name for the membership drive/raffle. To become a member call Nick Brown at 364-8665.
Class meeting
DIXFIELD – Stephens High School Class of 1945 will meet at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Front Porch Cafe. Those planning to attend should call Connie at 364-8785.
Bus for musical
RUMFORD – Seats are still available for the musical, “A Christmas Carol.” The bus will leave at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, from 50 Congress St. The cost is $25. For more information, call Marie at 364-4700.
Club meeting
CANTON – The Poodunck Snowmobile Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at Webb River Valley Sportsmen’s Clubhouse, Canton Point Road.
Class lunch
MEXICO – Mexico High School Class of 1953 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Covered Wagon. Following the luncheon, a business meeting will be held at the Mexico Historical Society to finalize plans for the 2008 class reunion. Elks tribute
RUMFORD – A tribute to members who have died during 2007 will be held during the Rumford Elks Lodge memorial service at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 2.
Anyone needing transportation to and from the service may call the lodge at 364-4022.
The following members will be honored: Peter Aucoin, Robert Austin, Leon Therriault, Charles Blanche, Joseph Buccina, Roger Richardson, Mark Ross and John McInnis.
Society takes break
PERU – The Peru Historical Society will not meet in December, but there are some shirts and town histories available as Christmas gifts. Information can be found at the Peru Town Office. The annual meeting will be held on Jan. 8.
Tourney winners
RUMFORD – The first Moontide Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament fundraiser took place Nov. 18 at the VFW Hall on Waldo Street with 62 players.
Sixth place was won by Harry Smith of Rumford and paid $225; fifth place, Rob Schulz of Lewiston, $375; fourth, $525, no name available; third, $700; first and second, split between Larry Cummings and Kathy-Jo Barnett, each receiving $1,375.
Another tournament will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15. The buy-in will still be $105. If 100 people attend, the top positions will pay $2,600. Reserve a seat by calling 364-2795.
