CATHLAMET, Wash. – Rita G. Hebert, 87, formerly of 17 Gill St., New Auburn, passed away on Friday, Nov. 23, at Columbia View Care Center.

She was born in Amesbury, Mass., April 26, 1920, the daughter of the late Emile Grenier and Claudia Jutras. She was educated in Amesbury and Lewiston schools and was married July 4, 1941 to Bertrand Hebert, who predeceased her October 13, 1986.

She was employed in area shoe shops all her life and retired in 1992 from Crest Shoe Co. As an Auburn resident, she was a communicant of St. Louis Church and was an avid baseball fan, and enjoyed making all kinds of crafts and knitting for her family.

She is survived by a daughter, Jeannine Helvey and husband, Joseph, of Naselle, Wash.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Severine Dickinson of Auburn and Edith Malo of Old Orchard Beach; a brother, Gerard Grenier of Auburn; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; a daughter, Florence Lemay, and her husband, Marcel; a grandson, Brian Lemay; two sisters, Lillian Berube and Rita’s twin sister, Theresa Currier; and a brother, Frank Grenier.
