FARMINGTON – Florence W. Beane, 97, of Kingfield, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Edgewood Manor Rehab and Living Center.

She was born in Kingfield, May 9, 1910, a daughter of George A. and Ella (McVoy) Witham. She was educated in the schools of Kingfield and was a graduate of Farmington Normal School.

She married Mahlon Beane Dec. 26, 1937. He died Feb. 9, 1991. She taught in the schools of No. 6 in Phillips, the Lexington schools and later in the Kingfield schools, retiring in 1972.

She enjoyed cooking, knitting and loved taking care of little children and her greatest joy was going to camp on Hancock Pond with her family.

She is survived by her sister, Oscarene French of Kingfield; nephew, Peter Davenport of Kingfield; two nieces, Beverly French of Kingfield and Linda Norton of Kingfield; and many great-nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Davenport.
