Dear Sun Spots: Recently a photo appeared in the Sun Journal of an artist from Mechanic Falls and Boston, who was shown painting from atop Goff Hill. His name is Chuck Sullivan. Could Sun Spots please tell me how to get in touch with this artist? Thank you. – Susan Weber, Auburn.

Answer:
After much tracking, Sun Spots was able to locate artist Chuck Sullivan who says he lives in Milton, Mass., although the family has another home in Mechanic Falls. Thanks to Lorica Artworks owner Mia Guerrea, who was happy to share the information with Sun Spots.

You and other readers caught the photograph of himself and fellow artist Vincent Crotty on a weeklong painting journey up here in Maine. Sullivan, whom Sun Spots spoke with, owned a travel agency for some 20 years and closed it to follow his passion: painting. He was 43 years old. Now, 10 years later he says he’s come this far because “passion drives.” He typically works on large pieces and is working on one that’s 5 feet by 4 feet.

Both Crotty’s and Sullivan’s works are being featured with Lorica Artworks, 90 Main St., Andover, MA 01810, 978-470-1829. In The Moment is a showing of Irish and American artists, and Sullivan says while there are many paintings posted online, you’ll find a lot more at the exhibit. It runs through Dec. 31. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday’ 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday; and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. It is also available by appointment.

In addition, Sullivan’s paintings are also being exhibited at The South Street Gallery, 149 South St., Hingham, MA 02043, 781-749-0430, e-mail: [email protected]. It is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday or by appointment.

Chuck Sullivan may be reached at 617-413-9025.

Dear Sun Spots: There was an article in the Sun Journal titled “Cells behind wheel illegal for teenagers” recently. It stated that scores of laws would take effect on Sept. 20. One read as follows: “More young Mainers will be protected from losing health insurance. A new law says individual and group health insurance policies must offer to continue coverage for dependent children up to 25 years of age. Eligibility rules, such as being unmarried, apply.”

How do I get more information regarding this statement? I have a son who will be turning 21 and about to be taken off our insurance unless he is a full-time student. – No Name, No Town.

Answer: Sun Spots believes you are referring to the Sept. 20 Associated Press article that reported on LD 841, an act extending health insurance coverage for dependent children up to 25 years of age.

The bill was signed by the governor in May 2007 and became law Sept. 20.

You might want to advise your insurance company of this new law to ensure your son gets covered, if he can be.
