LISBON – One driver was hurt Thursday afternoon when her car was struck from behind by a pickup truck on Route 196 near the Big Apple.

According to investigating officer Jeff Picard, Robert Gibson, 22, of 62 Free St., was driving east on Route 196 near the Big Apple when he fell asleep and struck the rear of a car operated by Erica Goodwin, 35, of 21 Alma Drive, who complained of neck pain and was taken to Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick.

Gibson told the officer he was “very tired.” He was driving about 30 miles an hour when he crashed into the car, Picard said.

Damage to Gibson’s 1997 red Dodge Dakota was estimated at $1,500 and damage to Goodwin’s black 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix at $2,500.

No charges were filed.
