BRUNSWICK – The Bowdoin College women’s basketball team forced 35 turnovers and held Husson to a season-low in points in a 65-36 victory on Friday evening.

The Polar Bears improve to 3-2 this season and will host Emmanuel College today at 6 p.m. Husson remains winless at 0-4.

Up 14-11 midway through the first half, Bowdoin used a 14-2 surge to pull away from the Eagles. Maria Noucas buried a 3-pointer to cap the run as the Polar Bears led 31-15 at the break.

Bowdoin’s final margin of 29 points was their largest lead of the game.

Four players saw double-figures for Bowdoin, led by a trio of players with 11. Jill Anelauskas, Alexa Kaubris and Leah Weiss each notched the number, with Colleen Sweeney dropping 10 points for the Polar Bears.

Hockey

Colby 5, Skidmore 2

WATERVILLE – Colby College senior forward Josh Reber became the 14th player in school history to reach 100 career points as the Mules took a 5-2 victory over Skidmore College in men’s hockey on Friday night.

Reber has had most of his points passing the puck, but he got his 100th point on a goal at 7:29 of the first period to give Colby (2-2) a 2-0 lead.

Bowdoin 4, Castleton 3

BRUNSWICK – The Bowdoin College men’s ice hockey team scored three goals in the second period to skate past Castleton State with a 4-3 win on Friday.

The Spartans grabbed a one-goal lead in the first period with a power-play goal from Steve Culbertson at 5:15. The Polar Bears couldn’t take advantage of two late powerplays in the frame and were down a goal after the first intermission.

USM 4, Williams 4

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Senior Mike Stevens scored an unassisted goal with 1:29 remaining in regulation time to give the unbeaten and nationally-ranked University of Southern Maine Huskies a 4-4 overtime tie with the Williams College Ephmen in an ECAC East-NESCAC inter-league game Friday night.

The tie leaves the Huskies with a 4-0-1 mark overall and a 2-0-1 record in league play. The Ephmen are 1-3-1 overall and 0-2-1 in league games. Southern Maine, which never led in the game, rallied from a 3-1 second period deficit to tie the game at 3-3 on junior Matt Rowe’s first goal of the season.
