JAY – Joseph C. and Shirley M. (Chick) Dubord Jr. of Jay celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 27 at Sedgley Place in Greene. The event was planned by their four daughters, with immediate family members attending. The couple was married Oct. 28, 1957.

As part of the festivities, the couple was treated to a limousine ride from their home in Jay to the Sedgley Place in Greene. In the limousine was a scrapbook of family events from the past 50 years, created by Joline Crawford. Within the scrapbook were thoughtful notes and cards sent from friends and extended family.

At the Sedgley Place, the family enjoyed a picture slide show, with accompanying music, of family highlights of the last 50 years. The slide show was created by Darlene and Jenna Marstaller. In keeping with the flowers the couple had at their wedding, a corsage and boutonniere and a floral centerpiece was delivered to their home the afternoon of Oct. 27.

The couple has been retired for 10 years. Mrs. Dubord is retired from G.H. Bass and Mr. Dubord from International Paper. During their retirement thus far, the couple has enjoyed many personal pleasures, including a six-week RV camping trip to Alaska and building a family camp at Sandy Pond in Embden.

Always a project man, Mr. Dubord can be found putting his fine carpentry talents to work by always lending a hand at one of his daughters’ homes or working with his brother, Lionel, before Lionel passed away last winter. Always a talented seamstress, Mrs. Dubord has developed into a fine quilter, and shares her talent with other area quilters during weekly meetings. Every grandchild or great-grandchild has a quilt made by Mrs. Dubord.

Family members are Joline and Robert Crawford of Peru and their daughter, Monique Crawford of Standish; Deborah Warren of Livermore Falls and her daughters, Emma Warren of Jay, Kathrin Warren of Orono and Deborah’s son, Samuel Warren of Livermore Falls; Darlene and Jerry Marstaller of Hartford and their daughter, Jenna Marstaller of Westbrook, and their son, Seth Marstaller of Waterville; and Diana Doiron of Chelsea.

Unable to attend were Diana’s son, Jacob Doiron of Burlington, N.C., and his family, fiancee, Kari Pederson and their daughter, Kaylee Pederson-Doiron; Diana’s daughter, Lisa Doiron and her fiancé, Jay Fitzgerald, of Geneva, N.Y.; and Diana’s daughter, Heidi Doiron of Durham, N.H.
