Buckfield – Donald S. Fox, 72, of Buckfield, passed away on Nov. 30, at home surrounded by his family, after a long illness.

He was born on March 16, 1935, to Henry Fox and Agnes Milliken-Fox. He was the youngest of five children, and was raised in Lovell, graduating from Fryeburg Academy and joined the Army in 1957. He served in Austria and Italy, where he was trained as a machinist.

He was employed by Maine Machine Products in South Paris and later by Penley Corp., where he retired after 40 years.

He married Betty Jack in 1960, and together they raised three children.

He volunteered on the Buckfield Fire Department and the Buckfield Planning Board. In his younger years, he served as scoutmaster in Lovell, and was supportive of children’s sports and was always available to umpire baseball and softball games.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years; one brother, H. Walter Fox; one sister, Elizabeth Guptil; children, Ann Crocker and her husband, Randy, and their children, Beth, Becky and Kim, Donna Kangas and her husband, Ricky, and their daughters, Staci and Whitney and Mark Fox and Janie Lucas and their sons, S. Jarrett, Patrick and Evan; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Robert and George; and grandson, Donald Edward Fox.
