Auburn – Edward Carl Leighton, 65, of 49 Fairview Terrace, died Friday at Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.
Born in Lewiston on Jan. 17, 1942, the son of Harry W. Leighton Sr. and Frances G. Johnson. Eddie worked at Etonic Shoe as a stitcher for 20 years and was an avid racing fan.
He loved his family, friends, Nascar and Oxford Plains Racing.
He will be remembered for his bright smile and kindness to all he met.
He is survived by his brothers, Haywood of Auburn, Frederick and partner, Jenifer, of Mechanic Falls, Harry Jr. of Auburn, Randall of Texas, Larry and his wife, Carol of Florida; niece Wanda Tripp and her husband, Mark, of Mechanic Falls; his great-nephews, Toby and Brandon Tripp of Mechanic Falls; and his best friend of over 40 years, Gard Leavitt his wife, Sandy, and their family.
Eddie was predeceased by his father, Harry Sr.; mother, Frances G.; a special niece, Tracy; and a nephew, Raymond.
