MONMOUTH – Normand H. Guimond, 61, of 132 Ridge Road, Monmouth, died Saturday, Dec. 1, at his residence with his family by his side following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Lewiston on Nov. 28, 1946, the son of Harold E. and Beatrice (Gendron) Guimond and had been a resident of this community all of his life.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the American Legion and a member of the Maine Country Music Association. He was a lead guitar player and singer for the bands “Country Lads” and also “Country Ridge Rockers,” having played in many local clubs. He also enjoyed playing poker, pool, golf and bowling. He most of all loved being with his family at family gatherings and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his mother, Beatrice Guimond of Lewiston; his wife, the former Nancy Paul, whom he married on Dec. 25, 1989, of Monmouth; three sons, Michael Guimond and his wife, Melanie, of France, Christopher Guimond of Switzerland and Jason Guimond and his wife, Amy, of Lewiston; one daughter, Jessica Guimond of Lewiston; three stepdaughters, Lynda Young and her husband, Nate, of Maryland, Bobbie-Jo Grenier and her husband, Laurent, of Monmouth and Paula Douglas and her husband, Wil, of Newport; three brothers, Harold Guimond Jr. and his wife, Denise ,of Indiana, Adrian Guimond and his wife, Diane, of Lewiston and Gerry Guimond and his wife, Brenda, of Lewiston; four sisters, Diane Provencher and her husband, Peter, of Lisbon, Susan Guimond of Tampa, Fla., Linda Buck and her husband, David, of Inverness, Fla., and Denise Perry and her husband, Keith, of Lewiston; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, especially Lisa and Lice for the excellent care they have given to Normand.
