CARRABASSETT VALLEY – Jefferson Starship, a collaboration of celebrated musicians who play from the rich songbook of its legendary forefathers Jefferson Airplane and the original incarnation of Jefferson Starship, will take the stage Saturday, Dec. 8. at Sugarloaf.

Maine’s own legendary Outerspace Band will kick off the rock ‘n’ roll concert in the King Pine Room, the first of a five-event Bud Light Concert Series that bring top-name entertainers to Sugarloaf’s base lodge.

Jefferson Starship is made up of old and new players, including songwriter/guitarist/vocalist Paul Kantner and vocalist David Freiberg, both of whom founded Jefferson Starship and were crucial in developing the renowned “San Francisco Sound” that changed the course of pop music.

Since reforming in 1992, Jefferson Starship has performed more than 900 concerts in 21 countries. The band not only performs all the timeless hits of Jefferson Starship, but also performs the entire repertoire of Jefferson Airplane, started by Kantner 40 years ago.

In 2005, Jefferson Starship members celebrated the 40th anniversary of Jefferson Airplane, making them America’s longest enduring rock institution. Along with an all-star cast featuring original members of Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Big Brother & The Holding Company and Country Joe McDonald, the band toured the world as part of the “Jefferson Family Galactic Reunion.”

Tickets are $35 for limited platinum seating, $27.50 for general admission when purchased in advance.Tickets on the day of the show are $42.50 and $32.50, respectively. This is a 21+ performance, and proper identification is required.

Doors will open at 7:30 p.m., with Outerspace Band scheduled to take the stage at 8:30 p.m.
