BETHEL – The Bethel Historical Society will host the annual “Christmas with the Masons” from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Dr. Moses Mason House, 14 Broad St.
Fireplaces will be lit, candles will flicker on the window sills, and mantle pieces will be decorated as they might have been in the early 19th century with boughs, berries and fruit, as smells of spices waft throughout the historic rooms.
The harp will be heard bringing melodies of Christmas past and hot mull cider will be served from the hearth of the winter kitchen. Special holiday treats will be offered in the dining room with its 1805 banjo clock ticking out the moments.
Those interested in attending and experiencing an early 19th century celebration are invited. There is no admission, but donations will be accepted.
