The last time you heard about the LMS Civil Rights team, you heard how they’re trying to make school a better place to be. They have done some activities already. They have designed their t-shirts with the motto “Got walls? Break them!”. They also had a fund raiser to help buy the shirts. The additional money will be used for World Café, movie nights, mini mix up lunches, Camp Kieve, and other school events. The Civil Rights Team went to the Hate Bias workshop in Augusta last Tuesday, and a state wide civil rights conference in Augusta, this past Monday.

The Civil Rights Club is bigger than ever this year. Last year there was only around 30 kids, but this year there are around 70! “It is absolutely phenomenal,” says Mrs. Malyata the club director.

“You can’t shake hands with a clench fist” is the philosophy for the Civil Rights Team. Our goal is to get kids to be more excepting of their fellow students.
