NEWRY – Two young men were issued summonses Monday after being charged with taking four cases of beer from a Summit Road business at Sunday River Ski Resort.
Trevor Holmquist, 20, of Wildwood Lane in Gray, and Joseph Carroll, 19, of Maple Street in New Gloucester, were charged with theft and criminal mischief by Oxford County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Halacy.
Halacy found the pair at a nearby condo after the theft was reported. The criminal mischief charge stems from damage done to the door of a freezer where the beer was being stored.
Sheriff Wayne Gallant said the men will not be charged with burglary, but that the district attorney may bring other charges. Halacy was unavailable for comment Tuesday.
