FARMINGTON – Sayward D. Hackett 73, of Industry, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 25, 1933, in Industry the son of Arthur P. and Clara E. (Hutchinson) Hackett.
He graduated from Madison High School and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars.
He was a lifelong resident of Industry. He worked many years in the logging industry as a self-employed heavy equipment mechanic.
He enjoyed playing guitar, singing country music and had played in several country bands. He loved camping with family and friends in Maine and New Hampshire.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Geraldine R. (Whipple) Hackett of Industry; his children, Richard Hackett and his wife, Melinda, of Frankfort, Ky., Bonnie Bubier and her husband, Scott, of Farmington, Kathy Barker and her husband, Randy, of Wilton and Sayward D. Hackett II and his wife, Wendy, of Industry; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Carolyn Churchill and her husband, Charlie, of Industry, Phyllis Phillips of Embden and Joanne Weaver and her husband, Charles, of Joliet, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews.
