CHESTERVILLE – Law enforcement agents executed a search warrant at a house at 73 Zion’s Hill Road Wednesday morning and seized prescription narcotic pills, hashish and marijuana with a street value estimated at about $10,000.
Two men were arrested in connection with the drug case and at least two others face charges, said Gerry Baril, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency supervisor, on Wednesday.
MDEA, Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Maine State Police and Farmington police collaborated to investigate citizens’ complaints about drug trafficking, Baril said.
Eight people live at the Cape Cod-style house, he said.
Police arrested Raymond Cushing, 57, of Chesterville on charges of trafficking in marijuana and unlawful possession of schedule W drugs – 16 30-milligram Oxycodone tablets and one 15-milligram tablet, Baril said. Cushing was released on $5,000 unsecured bail from the Franklin County jail.
Douglas Glidden, 18, of Chesterville, was arrested on a charge of violating of conditions of bail on a pending domestic violence charge and a charge of unlawful possession of schedule W drugs – two Oxycodone tablets and four methadone tablets, Baril said. He had a 20-gauge shotgun in his possession, which violated his bail condition, he said. Glidden was still in jail Wednesday night with no bail allowed on the violation of release.
Besides the Oxycodone, seized in the raid were 145 tablets of methadone, each 10-milligram strength, Baril said.
Also confiscated were nine tablets of Hydrocodone, each at five milligram strength, and three tablets of Tylenol 3, which has codeine in it, he said.
Pharmaceuticals were found in various locations throughout the house, including three of the bedrooms.
Police also seized nearly a pound of marijuana divided into several packages, including a gallon-size freezer bag that contained 321.6 grams of marijuana along with another bag that had 12 rolled sandwich bags in it, each containing 3.5 grams or one-eighth of an ounce of marijuana, Baril said. They were being sold for $25 each, he added.
Another rolled up plastic bag containing 5.1 grams of marijuana was found in a suspect’s jacket, Baril said.
Based on drug ledgers found and what the marijuana was being sold at, the total 413.8 grams has a street value of nearly $3,000, he said.
In addition, 3.1 grams of hashish was seized and five seedlings plants that are being attributed to two others who face pending charges, Baril said.
It appears the prescription drugs came from another occupant of the house, he said.
Baril said they suspect the methadone and 30-milligram Oxycodone tablets found are part of what is missing from prescription bottles filled on Dec. 3.
Methadone tablets go for $10 a tablet on the street and Oxycodone is selling for $1 per milligram, Baril said. Hydrocodone is selling for $5 each and the Tylenol 3 with codeine is selling for $3 each.
The value of the prescription drugs seized is $7,279 on the street, Baril said.
