AUBURN – Grace B. Provencher, 95, of 111 Baxter Ave., died Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice after a three-day stay.
She was born in Brunswick, on June 6, 1912, a daughter of the late Ernest and Irma Labbe Baribeau. She was educated in Canadian and Auburn schools. She was a graduate of Edward Little High School, Class of 1931. She was married to Adelard M. Provencher, who died Feb. 14, 2005.
She was a member of the Auburn Catholic community at Sacred Heart parish, where she was a charter member of the Golden Age Club and the New Auburn Senior Citizens.
She worked at Northern Heel Co. for 25 years and enjoyed doing craft, knitting, crocheting, sewing, gardening, bus trips and going camping for 14 years in Naples after her retirement. She also loved playing cards with her special card group.
She will be remembered for her love of family, her church and friends.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lillian I. and Jay DeVries of Seneca Falls, N.Y.; her grandson, Matthew DeVries and his wife, Autumn, of Seneca Falls, N.Y.; two great-grandsons, Cameron James and Parker Benjamin Devries; a brother, Roger Baribeau of Burbank, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
