I am very concerned after reading about a man who made threats during a doctor’s visit about killing black people at a Kwanzaa celebration in Bangor. (Sun Journal, Nov. 29)
What has happened to doctor/patient confidentiality? Was the man in the VA hospital because he has post-traumatic stress disorder and not responsible for what he said?
As for the VA police officer having a “chilling encounter,” shouldn’t that conversation be held to the same confidentiality as for the doctor? After all, a lot of patients there have mental problems.
And I wonder, if a black person made a similar statement about killing white people attending a Christmas service, would it make as much news? I think not.
It was a serious threat, but let’s hear the whole story.
